Inner West Community Energy

IWCE is a not for profit, run by a group of local Inner West volunteers. The main focus is promoting the uptake of solar energy by helping people work through the difficulties involved in doing this. Solar electricity is clean, it’s good for the climate, it promotes local jobs and it saves people money. The local community level is a place where great change can be facilitated. The group is working on ways to help people who live in apartments and strata developments as well as NFP'S, renters and lower income residents to transition to solar. Informing the community about sustainability and ways we can all make changes in our daily lives that will have a positive impact is also one of IWCE's goals. The group plans to hold a regular eco-festival, ‘On the Green’ which will be a day of informative talks, stalls, and advice from experts in areas like climate change, food, waste, energy and finances to learn what changes we can all make to improve our environmental footprint.
