Toolo - The Blue Mountains Tool Library

Toolo Ltd is a not-for-profit registered charity, started by a group of artists who wanted to build a collection of equipment to share. It is building a Creative Equity fund to assist artists in the region and further advance creative pursuits.

Toolo supports the local community and creative industries through providing access to resources, training, maker space and opportunities for creative development. This vision is being enacted through the establishment of:

  • The Blue Mountains Tool Library;
  • A monthly Repair Café;
  • Skills training and creative education programs;
  • Local community art and music projects; and
  • Artist-in-residence programs

Sharing and repairing equipment reduces home clutter and consumer wastage and helps in moving towards a better community model of accessibility to training and equipment. Toolo continues to network with other community organisations to create an interconnected web of sustainable enterprises, supportive of each other, to create a more sharing local and regional economy for the future.

For the cost of one small power tool, an annual library membership enables people to borrow gardening gear, sound equipment, tools and event gear. This keeps unused items out of sheds and landfill, and provides access to more expensive equipment. Why buy stuff, when you can borrow it?
