NABERS is a national rating system in Australia that measures the environmental performance of buildings and tenancies. Put simply, NABERS measures the energy efficiency, water usage, waste management and indoor environment quality of a building or tenancy and its impact on the environment.

Since 1999, NABERS has helped save:

-7 million tonnes of CO2 emissions
- enough to power 93,430 homes for 1 year
-6 billion litres of water
-$1 billion in energy bills for building users.

NABERS is a reliable and easy to understand sustainability rating, and measures actual impact, not intent. Like the efficiency star ratings on a fridge or washing machine, NABERS provides a rating from one to six stars for a building or office’s environmental footprint.

A NABERS rating identifies areas for savings and improvements to be taken after a rating to reduce a building’s environmental impact.

NABERS is a world leading building performance rating due to its integrity of methods, transparency of process and accountability to industry. NABERS is administered by Australia’s New South Wales Government, and operates in three countries: Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
